About the Role
Join our team as a Patient Services Assistant on a full time / part time ongoing basis to work at Dandenong Hospital based in Dandenong. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the General Services Manager and working with the broader Support Services team.
PSAs play a vital role in supporting the clinical team in the delivery of patient care. They do a range of tasks including, but not limited to, cleaning, patient transfers, and equipment handling. Working as part of a team and on their own, PSAs are responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and patient support across the hospital.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Daily ward cleaning, discharge room cleans, and unscheduled cleans
Patient transfers using equipment such as hoists, slides, bed movers and wheelchairs
Ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols at all times.
Patient discharge assistance
Mortuary transfers
Ward equipment, cleaning and transferring
Ensuring patient privacy and dignity at all times
Supporting clinical staff with patient care tasks as directed
Physical work including lifting and manual handling
We currently have the following 4 opportunities available:
Position 1: Ward - West 3-Full time with an ADO
Days: Tuesday to Saturday
Hours: 0700 to1530 –8Hrs
Total hours per fortnight: 80 with an ADO
Position 2: Ward – West 3 -Full time with an ADO
Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 0930 to 1800 – 8 Hrs
Total hours per fortnight: 80 hrs with an ADO
Position 3: Ward – Special Care Nursing – Full time with an ADO
Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 0630 to 1500 - 8Hrs
Total hours per fortnight: 80 with ADO
Position 4: Ward Maternity & SW2
Days: Maternity- Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
Hours: 0700 1530 8Hrs
Days: Southwest 2 Friday
Hours: 0700 1530 8Hrs
Total hours per fortnight: 64 Hrs
About You
To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:
Experience in patient services within hospital, aged care or cleaning settings
Strong knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices
Passion for patient care, consistently demonstrating respect and empathy
Reliable and punctual team member with strong verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate computer skills to support daily tasks and documentation
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Committed to following manual handling, safety protocols and procedural instructions
Mandatory requirements of the role
Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
