These roles offer the opportunity to work across policy, service and program delivery and integrity functions within the Policy and Programs Group in DVA, contributing to outcomes that support veterans and their families.

They communicate clearly and professionally, tailoring their approach to suit different audiences, and contribute positively to team outcomes. They demonstrate a commitment to building capability across the team, including mentoring new staff and actively participating in training and knowledge-sharing to foster a culture of continuous learning.
They bring strong organisational, analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within timeframes. With a sound understanding (or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge) of relevant legislation, policies and processes, they apply a high level of attention to detail to assess information and support evidence-based decisions. They proactively identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and service delivery, while maintaining integrity and professionalism, particularly when handling sensitive personal information and ensuring strict adherence to privacy, confidentiality and integrity requirements.
All applicants will be assessed against the APS4 requirements. Applicants who are not assessed as suitable at the APS4 level, but who demonstrate the capabilities required to perform the duties at a lower work level, may be considered suitable for engagement at the APS3 classification.
DUTIES
Support Officers may undertake a range of duties across the Policy and Programs Group.

ELIGIBILITY
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
- The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
