As we stride forward into a post-pandemic world, the essence of workplace wellbeing remains paramount for Australian workers. Recent years have etched into our consciousness the belief that work is a segment of our broader lives, where happiness, security, and fulfilment should seamlessly intertwine. The lessons we've recognised, from the value of genuine connections to the flexibility to redefine work environments, have steered Australian workplaces toward a fresh cadence. This rhythm prizes flexibility, champions work-life balance, and elevates employee mental health wellbeing. And for organisations, this translates to a broad tapestry of benefits including better financial gains, improved employer brand and reduced employee turnover.

In collaboration with YouGov, Indeed has carried out the most comprehensive study into the current state of wellbeing of Australian workers. Based on this research, our whitepaper, Wellness at work: Navigating the path to thriving, aims to deepen the conversation around what it means to be ‘well’ at work, examines the behaviours of those who are thriving and those who are not and shares tips and best practices on how to build an organisation brimming with people who feel highly fulfilled, motivated and happy at work.

Key findings from the report include:

  • 50% of workers are likely to look for a new job in the next 12 months.
  • Less than one-in-four (23%) workers are ‘thriving’ at work.
  • One-in-four workers (25%) say they have average or poor work-life balance.
  • Nearly half of all workers (46%) say they have experienced stress and burnout in their current job.
