Fixed Term – Full Time (12-month contract) - Commencing February 2027
Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for the position of Haematology Advanced Trainee. This 12-month CJCT-accredited training position will commence in February 2027. The successful candidate will gain a valuable and rewarding clinical experience in haematology at a regional cancer centre.
Our haematology service currently employs six part-time haematologists. Our junior team consists of one advanced trainee registrar, one basic physician trainee (BPT) medical registrar, and one Hospital Medical Officers (HMO). All unit members participate in a roster to support outpatient clinics, ward and inpatient consultative services, and weekend rosters.
About the role
This haematology AT post presents an excellent opportunity to gain experience in managing a wide array of benign and malignant haematologic conditions in the rural-regional setting with one-to-one interaction with supervising consultants. It is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the growth of haematology unit, providing teaching and guidance, all overseen by a cadre of very supportive consultants.
In addition to the journal club, trainees will benefit from regular teaching sessions by consultant staff. We also have fortnightly multidisciplinary meeting and morphology meetings. We have an excellent and dynamic clinical trials unit; the trainee will therefore have an excellent opportunity to learn about various aspects of clinical trials. The trainee will also have full support to conduct or participate in a research project. There will be an opportunity to participate in the national and international haematology conferences.
