Lawyer job summary
A great job description starts with a compelling summary of the position and its role within your company. Your summary should provide an overview of your company and expectations for the position. Outline the types of activities and responsibilities required for the job so job seekers can determine if they are qualified, or if the job is a good fit.
Example of a Lawyer job summary
Our criminal defence firm needs to add another lawyer to our roster to manage increasing inquiries from clients. We operate a busy and highly successful practice with six lawyers already in place. You will join us in upholding our clients’ rights and providing them with the best possible defence against the crimes with which they’ve been charged. We work primarily with DUI, drug, assault and battery, breaking and entering, and theft charges, but we are willing to allow new partners to expand their practices as they see fit. We operate a highly collaborative office in which each professional helps the others to ensure all of our clients receive the best possible service.

Lawyer qualifications and skills

You may also include soft skills and personality traits that you envision for a successful hire. While it may be tempting to include a long list of skills and requirements, including too many could dissuade qualified candidates from applying. Keep your list of qualifications concise, but provide enough detail with relevant keywords and terms.

- 5+ years’ experience as a practicing criminal defence attorney preferred
- Ability to handle a high case load and a willingness to meet personally with all clients
